About the LWV
The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active civic participation in government by (1) providing services to voters and (2) taking action on certain public policy issues. Positions on issues are taken only after study and subsequent consensus of the members.
The LWV was established in 1920 when women first gained the right to vote. It works hard to improve government at all levels, and to engage citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. Our issues are grounded in our mission of making democracy work for all citizens. Membership is open to all interested persons who are at least 16 years of age.
